Big fail

As you can see on the head line, this day has been pretty much a big fail. Here’s why:

Reason number one: Yesterday, Michelle and I was at Forever 21, and while we were there we took the opportunity to ask if we could apply for a job. The guy we spoke to told us that there would be a big “recruitment event” at Tiger tiger the next day (today), because Forever 21 needed to hire a lot of people. He told us it started at 9 and that we needed to be there early, because there would be a lot of people.

We spent the night yesterday preparing and making sure we had our CV:s in our bags etc, and today we woke up early and left home at 7:30. When we got there the place was empty. We waited until 9 and there was still no one else, so we knocked on the door and found out that the event was yesterday and we had missed it.

Reason number two: We thought that while we were in central London, we might as well look for a cheap fabric store that a guy at my internship was talking about. It was supposed to be in Shepherd’s Bush, so we went there. We never found the store.

Reason number three: “Ooh, there is a Morrison’s in Shepherd’s Bush” we thought. Morrison’s is a grocery store, and my friend Ellinor (who’s coming to visit next week btw) told me the other day that they had a special offer on Ben & Jerry’s. £2 each!

Of course, this offer no longer existed.

Oh, what an awesome day…

The long lost hat

Waah! I never updated my blog yesterday, because I was so tired when I got home. But nothing special happened anyway. At the internship I was just working on a garment (which I continued with today. It’s really complicated and It still isn’t finished), making the pattern and the sample for it. Hopefully I will finish it tomorrow, because I feel like I slow things down or something…

Anyway, I am so happy at the moment. I just found my hat, which I have been looking for since before I went back to Sweden! :D

Ugh… crappy webcam.

Heat

I’m still feeling good about the internship. Today, I had a lot of sewing to do, which was fun, and it makes me inspired to make something of my own when I’m at home. I better start thinking of what to make :)

Apparently, yesterday was told to be the hottest day of the year. Today was even hotter and I read in the paper that the temperature will keep rising this week.It was 28C today and it is expected to rise to 30C tomorrow. The warm weather obviously results in a even warmer temperature under ground, and the tube is literally a sauna! The temperature down there is measured to be at least 8C higher than above ground. They are even advising parents not to bring small children down there, since there is a risk of dehydration.

And guess who’s taking the tube during rush hour every day? That’s right – me.

Sorapol

The internship today went well! Everyone there was really nice, and I think I’m going to enjoy being there!

The first thing I got to do when I arrived was to sign a confidentiality letter. As I told you before, it is a new fashion label, so of course nothing can be revealed before it’s launched. That also means that I can’t really tell you too much about it. There was another intern as well, but she wasn’t feeling well so she went home before we even started.

After signing, I got to see the collection that is going to be made. It all looked amazing! The designers name is Sorapol (which is also the name of the label) and he is very talented.

After that, we started working. My tasks today was to make patterns for two skirts, and then to make a toile (sample garment) for each of them.

For lunch, I had a sandwich and chai tea from pret, which I ate under a tree in Hyde park :)

Now I’m home and have been out for a run, and I feel pretty good!

Frappuccino

Today, Jarrod and I decided to go to the Starbucks where our flatmate Lucy works. We tried the chocolate frappuccino’s and had a muffin each. Delicious, but I was feeling so full afterwards! Haha.

After that, we walked along oxford street. We took a look at the Disney store, and also went to Forever 21, which just opened here in London.

Jarrod is taking the gun from captain Jack Sparrow.

BBQ

First of all, I want to tell you that I have changed hair color. My hair is now brown.

What do you think? :)

And – My flatmates and I had a bbq tonight, which was really nice. And after we ate, I tried mixing some cocktails. Here is my first attempt to a cocktail (I think I did pretty well ^^):

Mmm… bearnaise!

The meal that I have been looking forward to cook! I brought a big pack of bearnaise sauce when I got here from Sweden, because here in London it is very hard to find a good sauce. I have tried to find bearnaise in different stores, but without result, and, now that it’s friday, I wanted to make something extra good.

Bearnaise, baked potatoes and your choice of meat – always works! Omnomnom….

Internship

I just got back from the meeting about the internship I was talking about earlier. They told me I can start on Monday, and it feels really good. I was super nervous before I got there, but they all seemed very cool.

Even though it’s just an internship, it is still a good experience and they will cover my travel costs and lunches. It is better than nothing and most workplaces doesn’t give the interns anything.

I don’t know how much I’m allowed to say about it, but it is a new fashion label that is launching in the middle of September. It is located in central London, so it’s not that far for me to travel. My duties will be to sew and make patterns and I am really excited about it. It will give me a chance to see what it is like to start a fashion label, which is what I want to do in the future.

I can’t wait until Monday! :)

I was cleaning my room the other day and did some organizing.I found an old door from a cupboard or something and used it to put my shoes on. Clever, huh? ^^

Lost and found oppurtunities

I never got that job. It turns out that there were others having trials the same day as me (which is weird, because they told me the day before that I would have my trial the whole day, when I got there, however, they told me it would only be two hours and that someone would come after me…). They said they would call me if I got the job and they never did, so I guess someone else got it. It really sucks, because I kind of need a job!

Buuut, after today I might have an internship. It’s not a job, but it could be a good oppurtunity. I’ll tell you more about it later!

Now, I’m gonna finish my very late breakfast and then I have to go.

I got a job!

Today, I continued the job searching and went around in the area, handing out CV:s. After a while I went into a Costa coffee shop and there I got to speak with the assistant manager. He was really nice and after talking to him for a while he said that I could start tomorrow(!) Nothing is for sure, of course. He said that we would start with tomorrow to see how well things goes, but I have a good feeling about this and will really try my best :)
