Slow

Our internet has been soooo sloooooooow the last few days. We don’t know why, but it was sometimes impossible to even enter a webpage. This is why I haven’t been writing in my blog.

Today is my day off from work, so my day hasn’t been very eventful. I’ve just been home, organizing my closet. My cousin came yesterday and he just came back a few minutes ago from having lunch with one of his friends here in London.

Wow, this was a very interesting post… I don’t know what I really wanted to say. Maybe I just wanted to show that I’m still alive?

Can’t get no sleep

Oh, hi!

I have completely forgot about my blog lately. I have been working monday to saturday, and I’ve been spending today and yesterday in some kind of half-sleep mode. But I’m happy to see that some people still are faithful and visit my blog, so I’m going to write more from now on!

I have some news for you people. Our dear flatmate Jarrod has moved back so South Africa, and late friday night a new guy took his place. His name is Nicolas. On saturday we all went to a club in Camden and we had a really nice time :)

Partner card

Today I got my very own Starbucks partner card! This means that every time I buy something from another Starbucks, I will get a special employee discount. Awesome!

This day was also when I got my first pay slip! So now I got some money, woho! I will get payed every two weeks, which is very common here in the UK. It actually feels good not having to wait a whole month to get my money.

Oh, and I got the Starbucks mug that you can see on the picture the other day because it had some minor damage on the handle and could no longer be used in the store.

Wing Yip

Guess what I’ll be making this weekend??

Oh yeah! That Chinese grocery store that I mentioned in my previous post has become one of my favourites. It’s called Wing Yip and has tons of stuff from china and other places in Asia. I went there again today and, as the big sushi fan I am, I got thrilled when I found everything I need to make my own sushi. For a reasonable price! I just hope I get time to do it, ’cause I’ve been craving sushi for a while now ^^

Looking forward to it!

hello panda

Okay, so I’ve been away from the blog recently and I guess I have to write something now. My friend Ellinor has been here visiting for two weeks now and I’ve been spending some time with her. Today we went to a chinese store that we found in the area and I bought some asian sweets called Hello Panda!

The packages are so cute! I get happy just by looking at them ^^

During these two weeks we have also been shopping, partying, seing The rise of the planet of the apes (which was really good!), celebrating one of our flatmates on his birthday and a lot of other fun stuff!

Now I need to get some sleep. I am so tired!

When will this end?

Family and friends have been worried about all these riots that are happening here in London the last couple of days. Luckily, none of those riots are, or have been, happening in the area I live in, so to everyone who’s wondering – I am safe. However it has all been happening so very fast and in several locations. Even in central London. I was supposed to have my internship today, but it got cancelled because no one knows what could happen and if we would be able to get home or not…

I’m following the news on the internet and I just hope that this will stop soon. I can’t understand what’s wrong with these people. How can it just spread like that? First there was a riot in tottenham and all of a sudden it’s all over London. Apparently, a riot is happening at Liverpool street at this very moment :/

Now over to a brighter subject:

Remember the interview I wrote about on sunday? I got the job! And I started working yesterday. Of course, I still want to keep the internship, so I will try to go there the days I don’t have work. So let’s see how that goes…

The first day at the job was fun. I started with handing out free samples of coffee on the street and got a lot of positive response from people. After that I got to learn a bit about how things work at starbucks, how to grind the coffee beans etc. In the end of the day I learnt how to make coffee! The different drinks that I got to make was Latte, cappuccino, black/white americano and frappuccino. It was really fun! What’s ironic though is that I don’t like coffee myself.. Haha :P

Almost

I just came back from the interview, which went good. I managed to get to the next stage – a trial shift. I will have only one hour, which will start today at 1pm, to prove that I should be working at starbucks, and after the shift he will tell me if I got the job or not.

He gave me the feed back directly after the interview. He said that he liked my attitude and that I seemed like a very helpful and nice person and he liked that even though I don’t really have any experience with coffee, I was still very willing to try. However, he also said that I could have done my research better and that I could have been more enthusiastic. He thought I looked anxious or sad(?). It must have been because I was very nervous…
